Trees Like Candles...

This photo was taken from the cab of the truck, but really came out pretty well. We hadn't tried taking any truck pics (aside from a candid shot of our stuffed orangutan friend, Tango) but Shawn's mom suggested that some autumn leaf shots would be nice...so here is a picture from Ohio or Indiana. I think it's Indiana. The yellows are so beautiful! The very most fiery and glowing were really in NY and Mass, but it's been quite a show the last few days. What a spectacular thing to see these eastern deciduous forests in full display. Gorgeous!

Tonight we are spending the evening in Wisconsin, which we both think is just one of the most beautiful states in the country (although there are a lot of states contending for that honor, to be honest!). The trees here are predominantly oak and oaks take on a variety of colors ranging from a pale brown all the way to mulberry, with occasionally strongly red colors thrown into the mix. Here, the distant hills show all purply reddish brown and are very picturesque with many neat farms and silos prettying up the gentle hills. Very pretty place, Wisconsin!

The weather was WARM today, around Chicago it was 60 and we were cooking in our heavier layers of clothes. Tomorrow we have a leisurely morning with only a four hour drive and a visit with a friend in St. Paul to look forward to. We're taking a day and a half off which is nice as the truck cab, despite the near constant leaf display, is tough to spend 8 hours straight in. Crazy to think last time we crossed we spent 11 hours a day in it! :-) Moving is for the birds. We must be a really feathery pair. :-)

G'night!

Please tell me that you enjoyed some Cheese in Wisconsin? I hear that they have very, very good Cheese - but alas I have never been able to taste their goods...

hey Anneka...

As it happens, we just picked up an aged Gouda from a local creamery, Edelweiss, in Monticello, Wisconsin! Made with milk from grass fed cows, it looks tasty. We are saving it for the next leg of our trip...
